New York Times Security Guard - Temporary in New York, New York
Protect the safety of persons and property in and around Times building by performing duties such as the following:
Guide pedestrian and vehicular traffic into and out of the building
Advise people away from hazards
Deny unauthorized persons access to the building or parts thereof
Investigate and report fires and other unusual occurrences and take initial remedial steps
Tour buildings on prescribed routes
Keeping alert for fire hazards, accident hazards and unusual occurrences and "clock" at various stations at prescribed times
Answer inquiries as to the location of offices and personnel within the buildings
Obtain compliance with all building rules except in the presence of supervisors, including those as to drinking, loitering and gambling
Deny unauthorized persons the right to park in front of buildings or on company property
Challenge unauthorized removal of material from buildings
Know the location of sprinkler control valves, and climb ladder to turn them off if necessary
Lock doors, close windows, and extinguish lights in offices after occupants leave
Operate elevator control switches to provide service to specified floors according to schedule
Take initial step to reactivate stalled elevators and, if such steps fail, notify appropriate emergency service personnel; evacuate or reassure passengers installed elevators while service is being restored
Perform related work as assigned
