241457BR Director, TRD InnovationJob DescriptionThe Director, TRD Innovation will play a primary role in the operation of the TRD Innovation Council. Deputizing for the Head, TRD Innovation they will be responsible for implementing innovation strategy and developing then deploying time-sensitive solutions to circumvent translational roadblocks in TRD's mission.1.Effectively support and operations of the TRD Innovation Council. 2. Active and timely engagement to facilitate internal innovations and evaluation of external technology opportunities. 3. Play an enabling with line functions role in executing and managing external research partnerships, including Universities, research institutes, medical centers, and external companies to facilitate implementation of mid-to-long term TRD innovation strategy. 4. On continuing basis evaluate and optimize contract implementation procedures to reflect organizational requirements. 5. Play a substantive role developing and curating key TRD networks such as the Science & Technology Network, Intellectual Property network and Novel Delivery Technology. 6. Establish innovation governance within TRD for cross-functional innovations, including initial approval, tracking progress and completion of innovation projects. 7. Interface with external facing business units to ensure strategic alignment with Novartis' external presence. 8. Working across TRD line functions, facilitate positioning of TRD as the partner of choice for research and development activities, including through scientific publications and technical presentations. 9. Aligned to line function and overall strategy, actively represent TRD innovation both internally at Novartis and externally to the scientific community including at key global conferences important to TRD. 11. Actively promote a culture of innovation within TRD and enable early exploration of innovation proposals in TRD. 12. Effectively disseminate innovation strategies, focus areas, proposals, progress and overall status within TRD. 13. Take lead on TRD Innovation events such as Town halls and TRD-internal crowd searching/ ideas contests for resolution of selected problems. 14. Curate and manage a central repository of internal innovations, evaluation of external technologies and external collaborations on innovation projects. 15. Assist in the delivery of TRD innovation awards and recognition programs. 16. Interface with NIBR, GDD and other leaders to establish and maintain a strong and fluid interface to ensure maximum benefit across the entire R&D organization. 17. Demonstrate tenacity, urgency and creativity in problem solving against challenging deadlines and targets. 18. Deputize for TRD Innovation Head as necessary.EEO StatementMinimum requirementsMinimum: Advanced degree in scientific discipline (PhD or MD-PhD)Demonstrated scientific excellence including a significant and sustained academic publication record. Professional gravitas enabling the person to command executive level presence both internally and externally.Firsthand knowledge of technology transfer and business development functions in academic, clinical and corporate settings.Minimum 15+ years in senior management in industry, academic, or clinical research.Experience leading cross-cutting interdisciplinary research teams and T0/T1 translational research paradigms.Expertise in one or more of pharmaceutical/chemical/analytical development.Expertise in one or more of biopharmaceuticals/radiopharmaceuticals/medical devices/digital biomarkers/regulatory science.Experience in negotiating contract terms, technology licensing strategies and intellectual property rights.
