A.Program Services * Assures superior food services, good care, quality staff/child relations, necessary daily/weekly routines, enriching activity programming, positive peer group dynamics, and effective limits and discipline.

  • Conducts regularly scheduled resident house meetings in all assigned facilities. B.Household Issues
  • Assures good housekeeping practices, clean grounds, a generally safe environment and a focused fire protection system.

  • Lobbies energetically for adequate furnishings and timely repairs and maintenance.

  • Assures pleasing and culturally relevant facility decorum. C.Youth and Family Services

  • Supports, enhances and promotes quality casework with child and family, educational services, health services, vocational/independent living initiatives and clinical intervention.

  • Promotes the family-to-family concept in working with youth and their family.

  • Functions in the role of mentor to birth parents.

  • Uses the resources of the communities to which assigned particularly those organizations with which SCO Family Of Services has affiliation agreements.

  • Helps youth and their families establish effective relationships with agencies that will continue after discharge. D.Staff Development

  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of Child Care staff.

  • Provides meaningful training opportunities for all assigned staff.

  • Directly supervises all assigned Senior CCW and supervises and/or oversees the supervision of all assigned CCW’s.

  • Chairs weekly team meetings in all assigned facilities. E.Administrative

  • Assures regulatory compliance with relevant City/State standards.

  • Completes all necessary reports.

  • Assures superior documentation practices.

  • Maintains proper program fiscal controls.

  • Schedules all Child Care staff and participates as required in management and program meetings. F.Normative Issues

  • Models and promotes dependable, responsible, accountable and ethical staff behavior, positive norms and teamwork primacy.

  • Confronts and effectively discourages negative behavior and attitude (staff and residents).

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Significant college level study in Human Services highly desirable.

  • Successful experience and achievement in children’s residential services absolutely essential.

  • Familiarity with the community to which assigned as knowledgeable about major culture groups with the neighborhood served.

  • The following qualifications are also desirable: Residence in the community in which the position is located; from the culture and ability to speak the language of the major groups served in the community.

  • A valid NYS Driver’s License is preferred.

  • Prior experience in a Director’s role preferred.
