Job Description:

Job Summary:

This position utilizes strategic sourcing practices to efficiently and effectively purchase goods and services (Indirect Spend) for the organization with the goal of maximizing overall value related to costs, contracts, and vendor consolidations. This position handles critical and visible commodities and utilizes high level negotiation, written and verbal skills to interact successfully with internal and external contacts.

Principal Responsibilities:

Develops request for proposal and quotes (RFP, RFQ) to obtain competitive proposals from prospective suppliers. Leads strategic sourcing projects from inception through completion for the most critical and visible purchases.

Analyzes financial reports to evaluate supplier viability. Advises management of market conditions and supplier activity that may impact pricing and delivery. Understands the market space to identify new vendors when appropriate. Performs spending analysis to develop annual objectives that are aligned with departmental and organizational goals.

Participates in the implementation and enforcement of organization purchasing and vendor management programs with the goal of maximizing value.

Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with internal customers and external contacts, including gaining understanding of commodity areas to optimize negotiation process.

Utilizes expertise in purchasing practices and procedures to optimize value of all goods and services purchased, to secure the most effective and efficient method of purchase. Presents findings, improvements and recommendations to all levels of the organizational management and key stakeholders.

Provides guidance and training as needed to users throughout the organization for purchasing process and ProcureIT system use.

Works closely with Vendor Management to ensure all vendor due diligence is complete and adhered to. Ensures documentation is correct and filed for audit review. Acts as a resource to Buyer’s, Senior Buyers, and Vendor Management.

Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience Requirements:

College degree or equivalent work experience required.

5-8 years relevant experience.

Behavioral/Technical Skills:

Excellent written and oral skills required for RFP and RFQ development and presentations in addition to communicating effectively with senior management.

Demonstrated expertise in contract evaluations and supplier proposals.

Excellent influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills and the ability to present issues in a persuasive manner. Ability to articulate with conviction, points of view and ideas that are in the best interest of the organization.

Strong ability to evaluate, analyze and quantify all impact of the issues involved, including but not limited to financial and compliance issues. Address any identified discrepancies related to invoice verses purchase order.

Ability to ensure departmental and organizational requirements are met from a compliance perspective.

Excellent PC skills, Intermediate experience in MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint. Ability to learn additional industry standard or internal applications as needed.

Strong ability to work independently as well as well with a team and share knowledge and skills.

Excellent project management, analytical and research skills are needed to manage projects from inception through completion. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritized based on business needs.
