Bayer Buyer/Planner in Whippany, New Jersey

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, (Buyer/Planner), are to:

  • Determine cost efficient production plan considering capacity constraints;

  • Place/manage purchase orders with suppliers utilizing the tolling process and ensure schedule compliance by constant communication with the supplier as the delivery date approaches. Monitor and issue purchase order delivery date and quantity changes as necessary;

  • SAP APO based weekly Supply Network Planning, including review of alerts, display supply plan, inventory projections, and customer orders;

  • Monitor and communicate supplier delivery, price and quality performance and recommend corrective action as required;

  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Customer Supply Chain, Distribution, Transportation, and Supply Manager, Displays to ensure internal and external customer expectations are met;

  • Participate on project teams to fully support successful new product launches, promotions, and manage material changes;

  • Assigned highly promoted and/or seasonal SKUs;

  • Independently manages strategic supply centers along with networks in-flux;

  • Drives supply chain enhancement projects for assigned supply sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years’ relevant supply chain experience or high school diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience;

  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical, Consumer Products or regulated industry is a plus

  • Background and understanding of supply chain management principles such as (but not limited to) Production Planning, Purchasing, Forecasting, and Logistics;

  • Good communication, interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, customer focus and negotiation skills required;

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization;

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, work as a team player and self-starter;

  • Computer skills/ability to work with various software packages, e.g., Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP is a plus;

  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast moving and international environment.
