Reporting to Suffolk's VP, Talent Acquisition, this role would support recruitment for both operational and non-operational positions across multiple business lines in the NY/NJ region. The role involves, but is not limited to, developing and implementing effective sourcing strategies for current and future roles, screening, interviewing and recommending candidates for hire, influencing, motivating and maintaining the interest of strong candidates, managing “Best in Class” candidate experiences throughout the interview process, and simultaneously maintaining strong relationships with internal hiring managers. This role would also serve as the regional (NY/NJ) point of contact for the People and Culture/HR team.
Responsibilities: Source, identify, prescreen and qualify candidates prior to face to face interviews
Present an accurate description of the position as well as company history to prospective candidates
Update candidate records via company Applicant Tracking System (iCims) to maintain current accurate information
Educate hiring managers on the recruiting process and the roles involved in the process
Build & maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for future opportunities
Utilize the Applicant Tracking System,, employee referrals, social media and networking to identify potential candidates
Summarize weekly, the status of all “open” searches throughout the company
Screen/source resumes and qualify candidates; post and maintain positions on various job boards
Coordinate the hiring process
Work closely with Hiring Managers to develop position profile and to understand overall needs and requirements. (Description, salary, timing, expectations, etc.)
Develop and manage strong consultative relationships with hiring managers and candidates
Perform competitive research
As part of Suffolk's People & Culture team, provide a “best in class” onboarding experience to all new hires
Deliver new hire orientation & onboarding (includes partnering with HR Support on pre-start date process, collecting I-9 documentation, and ensuring post-start date positive onboarding experience)
Serve as initial P&C/HR point of contact for general employee questions and/or concerns (i.e. basic benefits, PTO, HRIS/TMS system and policy questions)
Assists with implementation/rollout/communication/support for all People & Culture (HR, L&D, Community & Employee Engagement, Benefits, HR Support) programs and initiatives
Coordinate and manage departure meetings for exiting employees
Bachelor’s degree required
4-7 Years of construction industry recruiting experience is strongly preferred; basic HR support/service experience strongly preferred
High sense of urgency
Experience in dealing professionally with outside Executive Search firms
Must be extremely detail-oriented
Must be a Team Player
Strong customer service, communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal and organization skills
Sound judgment; knows when to escalate issues as appropriate
Previous experience with iCims ATS is a plus
