The role of the Fragrance Evaluator in the FFREC team is to support fragrance initiatives in R&D. These initiatives include the fragrance evaluation programs, projects, and other initiatives across the ELC organization to drive the strategic business initiatives. In addition, the Fragrance Evaluator is responsible for working independently to drive innovation in the area of fragrance technology.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Supporting the technical resolution of odor issues with internal and external partners - Problem Solving - 10%
Fragrance Development Projects - All Brands - Independence of Action & Accountability - 40%
1.) Fragrance Evaluation (40%) - Will need to make decision's independently based on sensory olfactive training on stability samples submitted into stability program for evaluation. Providing decisions on QC issues, trouble shooting odour issues with raw materials or finished product to identify the root cause of the problem. Under the guidance of the Senior Evaluators, will be expected to work independently and demonstrate progressive development and independence as training and skills evolve. Initiate collaboration between multi-cross functional teams within the ELC families to drive internal projects based on prioritization from management. Communicate activities, progress and results on projects to management proactively.
2.) Product Support (40%) - Support the Fragrance Coding Process used for New Products Development for Fine Fragrance and Fragrance Ancillary products. Working collaboratively with Corporate Fragrance Development to pro-actively align with new product launches for all ELC Brands. Implementing the coding process by initiating the regulatory, safety and specification of fragrance raw ingredients through internal electronic management system. Support technical issues due to stability by working with cross function members and resolving the matter. Performing small batch scale-up work by blending fragrance oils into ancillary products. Communicate activities, progress and results on projects to management
3.) Global Fragrance Quality Support (10%) - Evaluating fragrance raw materials and finished products from manufacturing and/or product development/R&D that contain a quality issue. Identifying the quality issue by working with the suppliers and internal resources to determine specific cause of quality deviation. This would be working with the Director and Sr. Evaluators. Communicate activities, progress and results on projects to management.
4.) Competitive Analysis (10%) - Under the leadership of the Director, align on the competitive analysis program to scout products, technologies and/or information of interest that leads to improvements, enhancements that align with current and future FFREC initiatives. Communicate independently on these initiatives to management.
Technical Degree (BS,MS) or equivalent experience in related field
1-3 years’ experience in applicable fragrance evaluation.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong technical acclimates in Fragrance Chemistry and Fragrance Evaluation
Performs assignments independently with little to no assistance
Skilled individual contributor demonstrating collaboration with internal and external partners
