Senior Logistics Coordinator
Publishers Clearing House (PCH) is looking for a Senior Logistics Coordinator to join our team! The role will be responsible for the day-to-day activities related to domestic and international (ocean/air) freight deliveries of product. The role will ensure that freight flows smoothly and efficiently through the entire supply chain.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Rely on knowledge of international ocean/air freight industry and US Customs processes in order to keep deliveries from international vendors moving smoothly and efficiently.
Maintain internal Delivery Status report watching for delivery discrepancies, etc.
Field questions from other PCH departments regarding shipment status.
Conduct the initial review/approval of PCH's international freight forwarder's invoices by verifying all invoiced goods have been turned over for transport. Track status of invoice approvals and payments.
Identify any specific expenses that are trending up, and determine if they are reasonable/explainable or make recommendations of steps PCH can take to mitigate them.
Oversee day-to-day domestic freight movement to ensure industry best practices, as well as PCH-specific practices, are adhered to by vendors and our domestic trucking provider.
Audit trucking vendor’s activity to validate that they are maximizing freight consolidation opportunities, and therefore minimizing PCH costs.
Work with purchasing department, trucking vendor, and receiving staff at distribution center to resolve quantity discrepancies, damages and delivery schedule issues. Initiate and monitor any freight claims.
Understand what types of commercial documents US Customs requires and the intricacies of the information required on those documents ensuring that documents do not delay deliveries.
Based on experience with various government agencies field questions from internal PCH departments related to compliance with the importing rules/regulations.
Provide assistance with international merchandise vendors’ invoice validation.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field required
5+ years in Logistics
In depth understanding of international ocean/air freight industries and trucking industry required
Solid understanding of US Customs Brokerage concepts, practices, terminology, and procedures required
Familiarity with Canadian Customs a plus
Exposure to warehouse receiving processes and order distribution a plus
High degree of proficiency in MS Excel required
Effective vendor management skills
Must have ability to analyze large amounts of data in order to identify problems and recommend solutions
Strong verbal and written communication skills
