Are you a non-clinical healthcare professional with prior experience in customer service? We are currently recruiting for a Medical Customer Service Representative for an exciting opportunity with a client in the Bohemia area! This is a full-time temporary position with the possibility of permanent placement. The working hours are Monday- Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 pm with a salary range of $16-$18/hour.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a primary resource for patient concerns via a high volume inbound call setting

  • Respond to and resolve customer service issues, including subjects such as insurance coverage and benefits, eligibility and claims, financial spending accounts, pre-authorization status, pharmacy benefits, etc.

  • Assist patients in scheduling appointments or referral to the appropriate internal specialist or program.

  • Communicate with physicians and managers regarding scheduling according to medical protocols

  • Coordinate with patients regarding lab or testing requirements, including appointment and location verification

  • Process patient payment and verify applicable coverage and co-payment amounts with insurer

  • Various clerical duties such as faxing, emailing, outbound calls, etc.

Working hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

  • 1 or more years in Customer Service setting, such as an office or call center

  • Prior experience in a medical setting, including familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes

  • Ability to translate complex medical jargon to simpler terms in order to effectively communicate with the customer

  • Demonstrated soft skills in communication in order to meet and exceed customer expectations through respectful, timely, and efficient conflict management

  • Ability to work a regularly scheduled shift with scheduled lunches and breaks, with some flexibility as needed

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Ability to learn new software and electronic record keeping practices quickly and efficiently

  • Bilingual preferred but not required
